Poll: Most Anticipated September Releases

Posted by Franciscoon 07. 09. 2010in Headlines, News Chat

Welcome September! We’re almost a week into September, and it already looks as it might have better quality film releases over August’s. We at TMB want to know what movies are you planning on watching this month. So as always, remember you can vote for just one, or for as many movies as you want to (It’s ok to be excited for more than one). Let’s roll…

Personally, I believe August was a little bit disappointing. The only bright spots were The Expendables, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Piranha 3D. The Other Guys was so-so. This month, I’m defintely going to watch The American, Machete, The Town, Wall Street 2, and Buried. So on paper, September looks brighter on quality than on quantity. What about you guys?

Here’s August’s Poll Results and Each Film’s Gross For Now: (417 Votes)

The Expendables – 56% – $184,068,000
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World – 46% – $38,778,630
The Other Guys – 28% – $108,116,000
Piranha 3D – 12% – $23,129,000
Centurion – 9% – $1,300,321
The Last Exorcism – 8% – $33,552,000
Middle Men – 7% – N/A
Takers – 5% – $39,951,000
Step Up 3D – 4% – $114,104,776
Eat, Pray, Love – 4% – $70,354,000
Vampires Suck – 2% – $33,855,000
The Switch – 2% – $25,805,000
The Lottery Ticket – 1% – $20,988,000
Nanny McPhee Returns – 1% – $86,437,000

Maybe I will see more than one, but the one I’m really waiting is The Town.

  2. Federico says:

By the way, why do you think Scott Pilgrim didn’t get much attention in the box office?

    • justme says:

For Scott Pilgrim I think you really needed a lot more 15 year old video game / manga junkies writing reviews. And, I think they are all busy texting each other.

      • Christopher says:

Or.. it’s the fact that the targeted niche they were going for are the ones who steal movies off the internet.

    • BobaFett says:

The marketing targetted the teenage market instead of showing what the movie really was.

Superbad was a direct opposite of this effect. + McLovin. I’m 39 now, and I paid to see Superbad (twice). I related to the cops the second time…;)

Expendables would’ve been better if it was just Stallone, Dolph and Statham. *SPOILER*

And…If they are Expendable, how come none of them dies?

I would like to go see Centurion, but I’m not going to spend $30 (after date, & popcorn) unless I see a little marketing investment by the studio too…Fassbender (And Waltz) stole Inglorious Basterds for me…

The rest of August was dreck filled. Although at least Piranha knew it was dreck.

    • David Lopan says:

Scott Pilgrim failed because Michael Cera is truly obnoxious. I just saw Youth in Revolt the other night and I was surprised that his Francois Dillinger character actually had more depth than what he’s used to. The kid’s a one trick pony, man. Not just me thinks so…but virtually EVERY single person i’ve spoken to, didn’t want to see because of him.

  3. Ty says:

Lol, Step Up 3D came in second.

Le sigh. I gotta admit that the dancing is pretty sick, but I’m surprised people find that more interesting than an actual plot.

  4. Daniel says:

I found the American to be very dry and boring. I really like what it was going for but it fell short imo

  5. Bigsampson says:

i put RE but thats because the rest are not getting me pumped.

  6. Chris says:

You must have a lot of women readers. You Again is in the lead?

  7. 420BAND says:

That list for both months make me want to stay home and stream Netflix or buy a “Good” movie on Blu-Ray!

    whats comin’ in October-November?

  8. David Lopan says:

I didn’t vote for the american or machete because I already saw those. So excited for the Town and Buried. Can’t wait actually.

  9. GL says:

There are very few interesting films during this month. August was just a drag. This was probably one of the worst summer movie’s year ever. Lol “The Town” is probably the biggest film coming this month, with everything else falling short. Everyone nowadays are too busy with the festivals to really go see “Going The Distance”.

  10. Karl says:

    Bring on Harry Potter!!!
