Toy Story 3 Gets To 1 Billion

Posted by Franciscoon 27. 08. 2010in Headlines, News Chat

Today, Toy Story 3 gets to $1 billion dollars grossed worldwide. It will also make Disney, the first studio in history to have two movies surpass this feat in the same year. A few weeks ago, Toy Story 3 passed Finding Nemo as Pixar’s highest grossing film ever.

CinemaBlend reports:

By the end of today, Toy Story 3 will have earned more than a billion dollars worldwide. In fact, it’ll be the second Disney film this year to do so, making Disney the first movie studio in history to release two billion dollar pictures in a single year. Alice in Wonderland was the other one, having accomplished the feat earlier this year.

I’m really glad that Toy Story 3 reached this milestone (not so much for Alice in Wonderland). Pixar just keeps delivering movie after movie. Toy Story 3 is easily, one of the best movies this year (the other one being Inception). It should win the Animated category, and it should at least, be nominated also for Picture of the Year at the Oscars.

What do you guys think? Did you go see this film? Should they continue with a #4? What’s your opinion on both movies surpassing $1 billion dollars?

If 3 pulled that much you can bet there will be a 4. I’m betting it will be the original kid all grown up (didn’t he go off to college in 3?) with a kid of his own.

I guess you didn’t see 3 lol. He goes off to college and leaves his toys with another owner and they are happy to be with the new owner too.

I’m so glad Toy Story 3 has grossed this much, To me definitely not just the best animated film but also the best picture so far. And i hope that they don’t make a sequel cause this was a Perfect movie to me from it’s Exhilarating opening to its BEAUTIFUL Conclusion and its Theme about Letting go and moving on. And i just want to again Thank Pixar for making this series. As the Toy Story franchise was a big part of me as a child.

    Thank You PIxar

Wonderful. With all those Billions, Disney can patriotically give back to the part of America that can’t afford to go see it.

You speak as if Disney is still a person. Remember, they are a huge corporation with a lot salaries to pay. So while it would be nice for them to help the less fortunate (which they already do), they’d be crippling their company to give away the kind of money you are talking about. That would only lead to more unemployed people. George Lucas (an individual) chose recently to give away half of his billions recently. He didn’t make the pledge to do so as Lucasfilm, rather it is coming straight from his own pockets. His very large and deep pockets. I think that is more like what you were talking about.
Also, TS3 was a fantastic movie. I loved every minute of it.

I agree: Toy Story 3 and Inception are the two best movies this year! I’d even say the best of the last couple years.

Toy Story 3 deserves it. Alice in Wonderland does not.
