Posted by on 11. 08. 2010in Headlines, News Chat

The Avengers, one of the most ambitious films in history, has been given an official start date. Including the likes of Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and more, it’s one of the most anticipated films in recent memory. The Avengers will hit cinemas on May 4th, 2012.

JoBlo reports:

THE AVENGERS has officially announced its start date, and it’s coming up pretty quickly. The film will start shooting in February 2011, around six months from now, and fifteen months ahead of its May 4, 2012 release date.

Finally, we have a start date. Any news regarding the superhero team, is exciting news. I’m pumped up for this one! Can’t wait to see all these loved characters sharing the big screen. Marvel, could you please give us who’s the villain/villains please?!

Do you think almost 15 months are enough to deliver a great Avengers film? What do you guys think?

Woohoo! I’ve got high hopes for this. 15 months should be plenty of time to put together a decent movie. I’m guessing Loki will be the villain and the storyline will follow the first issue of the comic with him controlling the Hulk or something like that.

It will be Awesome, I am anxious to find out what is going on with Cap. I mean from the concept art pieces in Comic con it seems that the cap America movie will be a time piece, as it should be, are they going to freeze Cap and then have him revive for the avengers film or just have him be a man who does not age as the rest of us do. Maybe he ages slower and by the time he joins the avenger he is an older experienced soldier and can be played by someone who looks more like the cap then Flame Boy.

    It’s plenty of time.

They have a script, or at least a current draft of one. They have the director. They have the actors signed and ready to roll.

Nice. They should have a good amount of footage to show for next year’s Comic-Con then.
