Sony Considering Salt 2

Salt has been out for about almost 4 weeks now. Starring Angelina Jolie, the action-thriller has made an estimated $103 million in domestic box office. News comes that Jolie and crew are waiting to see how the film does overseas, so they can then green-light the sequel.

IGN reports:

According to the LA Times, writer Kurt Wimmer already has an idea for the further adventures of Evelyn Salt - the CIA agent who may or may not be a Russian spy.

Angelina Jolie - who played the title character - is also keen to work on a sequel, while director Phillip Noyce is also said to be interested, although he has as many as three projects on his schedule (including indie thriller Wenceslas Square and romance Dirty Music).

The Times suggests that Sony is waiting to see how the film performs in foreign territories like Germany and the UK before green-lighting the project.

I’ve still haven’t seen this one, so I can’t go into details. But from what’ve read and heard, the film is not bad, it’s pretty entertaining. Is a sequel a good thing in this case?

What do you guys think? You want salt 2? You think it will do good foreign box office?

Yes! would love Salt 2! I thought the first one was very entertaining

Salt was fairly predictable. If they did a sequel it would do well to avoid any twists and play it Bourne straight it could do very well

  4. Lawrence says:

It was a great film. A sequel is inevitable with the way the ending was set up in the first film. This could become Jolie’s own franchise trilogy.

As already mentioned this movie is so set up for a sequal, it needs one to complete the story. The film was gripping and entertaining enough to keep my full attention in a 00:38 viewing after having seen another similar movie currently being shown. Basically, if Sony don’t do a sequal they will leave this story incomplete.

A Salt 2 would be great, but I’m just wondering where exactly the plot would go in the second film. I saw the movie for the second time this past weekend and though I would love a Salt 2, the plot has to off the charts!

I really enjoyed this movie and they definitely left it open for a part two. However, they’d have to be really careful not to water down the plot or cheese up the story line. The plot would have to be strong so I really suggest they think it through well.
