Justin Timberlake Going Sci-Fi?

Justin Timberlake is the complete package. You’ve got a guy who can pretty much do it all in today’s entertainment business. We all know his forte is music, but the guy has been doing great stuff in TV (Saturday Night Live) and in movies (Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan). With each movie role he takes, he gets the much needed experience you need to stay alive in that industry. He soon will grace the screen in the much anticipated movie The Social Network; where he takes a role in Facebook’s takeover story. So would JT try any other genre in the future? Maybe horror? Or maybe a biopic? How about a Sci-Fi flick?

CinemaBlend reports:

Deadline is reporting Timberlake has been offered the lead in the upcoming I’m.mortal. Amanda Seyfried is already attached in the female lead.

I’m.mortal is set in a futuristic dystopia where humans no longer age and the world’s currency is in the form of time allowed to spent living. The rich people get a chance to live infinitely while the rest of the common folk are forced to bargain for their life. Timberlake would play a guy who’s run out of time and takes a hostage (Seyfried) in an effort to stay alive. Andrew Niccol (Lord of War) wrote the script and will also direct.

This guys is for real. He is very talented and we’ve seen him make good in everything he’s made his mind in accomplishing. I would definitely want him to take this role. I want him to stretch it out; see if he can take the lead role. And whenever you get the beautiful and talented Amanda Seyfried to play alongside and help, you definitely should take the gig. Let’s hope he takes it.

What do you guys think? You’d see JT take on some Sci-Fi notes?

Same guy who wrote and directed Gattaca. Could be good!

While I like writer-director Andrew Niccol’s work - Gattaca was great.
But Justin Timberlake cannot act and I’m very concerned for the picture now.

Well, yeah, and Uwe Boll is on a James Cameron level by now, having directed more films than Cameron, right?

Just because a pop star shows up in a few films and calls himself “an actor” does nnot mean he can act. Jessica Simpson’s been in a few movies. Can she act?

    • Ty says:

Let’s be honest, Darren. Jessica Simpson is one if the best up-and-coming actresses in 2010.

Maybe SHE should be the lead in this film :D

Uh, yeah, I’m sorry but Justin Timberlake can’t act at all. He was the worst part of Alpha Dog, I cringed nearly every time he spoke. He wasn’t bad in Black Snake Moan but ugh.

    I’m not convinced.
