First Trailer for Romanek’s Never Let Me Go

Apple has released the trailer for Mark Romanek’s second feature film, and adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel Never Let Me Go.

Jo Blo gives us some background:

While Romanek has had a number of projects in the works over the years (including his notable but failed stint on THE WOLFMAN) it was an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s NEVER LET ME GO that got Romanek filming again. The movie stars Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield as…well, maybe it’s best you don’t know anymore and you just watch the trailer.

Romanek has only directed one feature film before this: One Hour Photo starring Robin Williams, which was released a whole eight years ago. I thought that movie was fantastic, but Never Let Me Go could be the sci fi drama of the decade.

I absolutely loved the trailer, and the way the film is playing with reality. There’s something almost Gattaca about the scanners and bracelets that makes it all the more unnerving, despite the beautiful pastel minimalism of the design.

I’ve read Ishiguro’s novel, and it is one of the best modern pieces of speculative fiction i could name. This adaptation will be one to watch out for. Trust me.

I understood everything from the trailer easily, but then again I’ve read the book.

The not-spoiler version is-cloning for organs.

You say clone and everything makes sense. Its what I was thinking but had no way of knowing if they were going to go in a completly different direction.

Reminds me of the Island, with less action.

Note: I am not saying either one copied the other.

I remember that I absolutely loved the book, but beyond the basic concept, I don’t remember much of the story. Maybe that means I won’t be comparing the book to the movie the whole time and I’ll actually enjoy it.

At least I hope so, because this looks really good.

some kids live in a commune and have to use these bracelets to monitor there doings kinda….
they leave the commune and start having more emotions about each others…
there are a few sex scenes made for women….
some guys is sad or mad screaming …

    ill pass

just cause you have a book source doesnt mean this will be good or entertaining at best

I get the feeling that you and I have very different notions of what makes something entertaining or not.

The bit about the kid found tied up with his hands and feet cut off didn’t excite you in the least?
