Iron Man 2 vs Terrance Howard

One detail I liked about Iron Man 2 was how much better Don Cheadle was than Terrance Howard. I bought Cheadle more as a career minded obediant duty sworn military man than Howard was in the first film, and with the War Machine conflict straining their relationship, I think that Cheadle was a better fit.

That being said, this clever signage just sums up what I thought so well.

Little known fact that aside from Favreau reportedly saying he didn’t enjoy working with Howard, Terrance was the highest paid actor on Iron Man. At the time he was coming off his Oscar buzz for Hustle and Flow, and when they announced RDJ for Stark the speculation instantly wondered if he was going to stay sober long enough. He has, but back when Iron Man was first casting, it was a valid concern.

Maybe the story didnt call for it in part 2, but the chemistry between Howard and Downey made them seem like actual friends.

All I can say is I liked Howard better and thought he fit the character much better. I didn’t like Cheadle in that movie at all.

Howard was the worst part of the first Iron Man, I am glad he was replaced. Cheadle is a much better actor and had much better chemistry with RDJ.

I don’t see how Cheadle was better. He didn’t exude any personality at all. He was just stoned faced the entire time of the movie, and his character really became a bit of a jerk, couldn’t root for him even when he was fully War Machine.

I liked Cheadle better myself, I didn’t miss Howard at all.

Haven’t seen iron man 2 yet but I’ve heard mostly good things about cheadle n I didn’t like Howard either also I cnt understand sum people sayin they ain’t seein the makluan rings reference in the iron man movies like I said I haven’t seen two but in the first one the name of the terrosist organization that kidnaps Tony is named the ten rings n the bold headed leader of them that gets his face burned is wearing one of the makluan rings and in the scene wit obiadah when Tony first shows him his chest obiadah is also wearing a makluan ring so I dnt know how people are missing these references

I am rather split on this, but I’ll say this much: I don’t feel the need for the bad joke. I thought Howard was good in the first film. Cheadle was a little better, but not by much in my view (note: this does not mean I didn’t like him in the part or didn’t like the film.)

As much as it’s kinda fun to dis Howard, and as much as I respect Cheadle as an actor and I also think he’s a better actor than Howard, but I didn’t see Roadies character step up in the acting department at all, actually I thought Howard had scenes that were more fun and ultimatley better than Cheadles’

Hard to say but to me it’s true.

I didn’t like how Howard really played him in the 1st one, but after watchin’ the 2nd I dont think it got better.

Just the suit and the action but no chemistry.

the best example I can give is the Stripper Flight attendant scene. that was a good scene and established their relationship to the viewing audience.

we never got that with Cheadle, just the funny opening line in front of congress.

that said, Howard wouldn’t pull off Boogie Nights or Hotel Rwanda..

    Just Sayin’

i vote howard. cheadle was boring. but i like him as an actor though…

Cheadle is marginally a superior actor. But his turn in Iron Man was really weak.
Bright lights on eyes to hide aging and his obidient turn as Tony’s flunky was a bit cringing.
Howard was better and as mentioned seemed more natural as a longtime buddy to Stark.
