This bit of news I hope excites you all as it did me. According to The Hollywood Reporter and THR we now have 5 finalists for the new Web Slinger. In no particular order here they are. (drum roll)
1) Jamie Bell ( Billy Elliot, Jumper, Tintin)
2) Frank Dillane ( Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince)
3) Andrew Garfield ( The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Lions for Lambs)
4) Josh Hutcherson ( Bridge to Terabithia, Journey to the Center of the Earth)
5) Alden Ehrenreich ( Tetro, Somewhere)

adds, “No Screen tests have been conducted at this early stage, and insiders point out that the director (Marc Webb) and studio are still on the lookout.”
I personally think Jamie Bell could pull off a good Spiderman, he was quite entertaining to watch in Jumper even though I was not a fan of the movie itself. What do you think? Who would you like to play the role of the next Peter Parker?
The 3D Spider-Man reboot will be shot later this year for a July 3, 2012 release. The script is by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent.

Meh, I still say Logan Lerman would have been the right choice, too bad.
I agree Logan Lerman would be a great fit for the character of Peter Parker.
Why didn’t you just match the order of your list with the order of the pictures for the post? Makes more sense for those who don’t care to google their photographs

I was thinking the new Peter Parker would be around the age/ looks of like a high-school freshman, so that we get to see the troubles of having Peter deal with school pressures an his changing body to become Spiderman. so that’s why i was hoping Sony would see Logan Lerman as a great candidate for its reboot.
Out of the 5 Guys listed Jamie Bell would definitely be the best Peter Parker, he was great as griffin in jumper. jumper is pretty much the only thing I’ve personally seen him in so he’s unknown to me which i think will play well in having go from geek to awesome.

The premise that they could cast most of these guys as a highschool kid? Sorry, there are only 2 on here that could pass as 15-16.
Unless they are dropping that “younger Parker” angle they were stating.
I have not seen these guys act in anything before, but based on appearence alone, picture #4 looks the most like Peter Parker to me.
The rest of them look like Gossip Girl rejects.
Jumper guy for sure, That kid from Zathura and Journey is a bad actor IMO
The only one one the short list I see is Alden Ehrenreich . (You should have used a Tetro still- he looks a lot better in his pix than he does in that shot)
Everyone else is meh. One oddity is Andy Garfield- he’s in his late 20’s. right? I wonder if he’s up for another part.
On an off list, I still hoped for Alien In The Attic’s Carter Jenkins.
I would flip out if Jamie Bell was Peter Parker. In a good way.
I’m a massive Spidey fan and I think Bell has the stuff. He’s always entertaining to watch and has proven himself to be a talented, fun and diverese actor. My personal favourite being The Chumscrubber. Incredible movie.
I can’t really see any of them as Spider-Man. Guess I’ll wait and see what happens before getting excited. Probably because I had Logan Lerman as a lock-in in my head.
I think Aaron Johnson or Zac Efron should get the role. They both can act and their totally underrated.
I can’t see Jamie Bell pulling it off because if the idea of the reboot is still to focus on the teenage high school years then he’s too old. Especially if they then plan to make a series of movies aimed at the teen market which by the sounds of things it will be.
I just hope it’s not Bell. I like him too much to see him being stuck making spidey movies for the next 10 years.
I’m glad to see that they’re taking into account only the talent of the actors, not their race.
Seriously, this is why The Last Airbender casting choices irk me. If I saw an asian, black and/or latino cosidered for roles like Spider-Man I’d be more willing to buy that whole “we only care for acting abilities” idea Shyamalambayan parades around.
Soapbox aside, I think Jamie Bell would be the best choice here.
They might as well have just stayed with Spider-Man 4. None of these guys will do any better. None of them look 15-16 either. hmph…

Jamie Bell does NOT look 15-16, nor does he fit the profile of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The suits over at Sony are morons!
