Ridley Scott talks Alien Prequel

Ridley Scott has been pimping his Robin Hood but MTV got him monologuing about his proposed Alien Prequel.

Which is not so proposed. Scott insists its happening.

Screen Rant says:

“As we speak, I’ve got a pile of pages next to me; it’s like the fourth draft. It’s a work in progress, but we’re not dreaming it up anymore. We know what the story is. We’re now actually trying to improve the three acts and make the characters better, build it up to something [we can shoot]. It’s a work in progress, but we’re actually making the film. There’s no question about it, we’re going to make the film.”

“It’s set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. It’s fundamentally about going out to find out ‘Who the hell was that Space Jockey?’ The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle — there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer’s chair. Remember that?”

For the first time in a LONG time, I have been eager to see an Aliens film.

Ridley Scott, don’t fail us now. This could be the first good Alien movie in forever.

oh i sure hope they use the idea used in the novels and comics. I remember in one of the comics they find one barely alive hooked up to life support in an alien hive. Cant wait my fanboy meter is jumping!

    Awesome.

    Sounds like it could rock.

But since its a sequel I wonder who would take the lead role. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

The ‘Space Jockey’ has been my favourite piece of Alienology all along. Glad to hear this is finally being mined as an idea.

This film is gonna ruin the mystery of the creature, which was one of great aspects about the film.
