The Joneses Trailer Online

They are not just living the American Dream, they are selling it!

David Duchovny and Demi Moore star in this romantic comedy about a “stealth marketing” family that is positioned in an influential and wealthy neighbourhood. Their job? Pose as the perfect family and when people see what they have, they will want what they have. But when the staged romance starts to blur the lines, Mr Jones thinks he might actually have something for Mrs. Jones.

It does look like a fun film, but my biggest problem is that I just don’t find Demi to be all that ‘desirable’ anymore. Just from the trailers, I am buying the hard business woman persona, but I just don’t see where his sudden attraction comes from. That might be the harder sell in this.

Still going to keep an eye out for this one.

Edit Andrew at RowThree.com has offered up his review when he saw this at Toronto International Film Festival last year. Thanks Andrew!

Looks interesting. Hope Moore shows more personality this time around. I thought her re-entry with Charlie’s Angels was a missed opportunity for the most part b/c she came across as her usual hard-@$$ character. It would have been better (IMO) if she had injected (by force if necessary) more humor into her role in order to break free of her stereotype.

Saw this at TIFF last year and really enjoyed it. I was a bit surprised at how enjoyable it was actually. The trailer smartly doesn’t give everything away as there’s a lot more to it than this. It’s actually a bit darker than what is let on here.

And you don’t think Demi is desirable? She’s 48 and looking mighty mighty fit in my opinion. Saw her IRL and she’s pretty damn fine.

That’s good to know. Demi was the only offputting thing here for me. I figured it had a hint of that “The Propsal” thing going on here, but with Sandra you could see through her uptight boss persona and see that she was likable, and (at least in this limited look) I just didn’t see that here.

Off topic here Andrew, I like the new look for RowThree.com and I found it amusing that we both launched new looks for our sites on the same day!

      Cheers!

Demi’s Demi, so she’s always been kinda like that, my problem is David Duchovny, he’s always been Blah for me. I dont avoid his work it just kinda fails to wow. he’s a laid back dude I guess

really? a 2 hour commercial? pass

It’s hardly a commercial. It’s an interesting family “unit” dynamic with some dark overtones with a clear message about American materialism. It’s the opposite of a commercial actually.
