Danny Elfman to score The Green Hornet

By Rodney - January 29, 2010 - 12:00 America/Montreal

With all the news about Green Hornet, its a surprise indeed that they have never brought up the score. And though there is no official announcement yet, it looks like Danny Elfman has already taken the job.

First Showing shares:

Danny Elfman - the legendary composer will apparently be scoring Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet starring Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz. I received an email earlier tonight linking to Film Score Daily’s Top Forty Composer Countdown where, in the #2 spot, they list all kinds of details about Elfman. At the end, they mention that “he returns to the superhero genre with The Green Hornet.”

The music sets the feel of the film and can take a scene and make it epic or silly without changing one frame. And frankly Seth Rogen is going to need all the help he can get to pass himself off as the debonair and confident Green Hornet instead of a goofy fool in over his head.

Elfman’s scores are always spot on and add so much to the feel and work well with the spirit of adventure films. I am sure this will set the tone of the film.

Hey, I mean it’s got waltz as the bad guy, and gondry directing, that’s already a plus. My company provided wardrobe for the film, so im excited to see that. I’m also always up for giving comedians a chance to branch out. If Seth Rogan can do it, awesome! if not, good try. You know what I mean?

It’ll be interesting to see if they go with the orignal Green Hornet theme song or not… that epic rendition of “Flight of the Butterfly” thats featured in Kill Bill Vol. 1…

Whatever the Elfman comes up with it will be good. I too am excited to see this flick.
