Star Wars In Concert: Beyond Brilliant!

By John - October 3, 2009 - 12:10 America/Montreal

Last night I had the opportunity to attend “Star Wars In Concert” at the Honda Center in Anaheim California. The basic idea of the show is a full symphony orchestra plays selected pieces of the legendary Star Wars score while narrator Anthony Daniels (C3PO from the movies), who was there doing it live, recounts the tale of the Star Wars epic and large video screens show scenes from appropriate parts of the films as the music plays.

It was nothing short of breathtaking. Awe inspiring. Amazing. Fantastic. There just aren’t enough words to describe how truly sensational the entire evening was.

Star Wars: In Concert

To start, massive amounts of original Star Wars items were on display around the arena in glass cases for people to see and take pictures with including costumes, props and even original concept art.

But the magic of the evening was in the music and the story. I was even moved to tears (small manly ones) at one point.

This evening reminded me of just how amazing the Star Wars universe is and made me fall in love with Star Wars all over again.

As many of you know, my very earliest memory as a child is my mom taking me to see Star Wars for the first time. It is the film that made me fall in love with film. The story that opened my imagination. God I love Star Wars (well… at least everything New Hope To Jedi)

Here’s the commercial for the event… I strongly recomend you keep your eyes open for if and when it plays anywhere near you.

I honestly can’t even watch this commercial because I know I’ll never be able to see this and I can’t take watching this commercial or the trailer they had for it because it just reminds be how awesome it would be to watch this.

Sounds wonderful; I saw Toy Story in 3D with a packed house including some little children who I think were seeing it for the first time.

I got misty eyed when Buzz’s arm broke off and we all applauded at the end (which we never do in England). So I had a good day too though not quite on your level.

How’s the 3D of Toy Story, Phil?

      • Phil Gee says:

The film wasn’t originally designed to be in 3D but you’d swear it was, watching it that way. There are so many things flying at the screen.

I was just jazzed to see it on the big screen again. The 3D was just the icing.

      • Mikano94 says:

It wasn’t “3D” neccessarily it was just given more dimensions, at the beginning I was blown away by the 3D, maybe it was me, but after about 15 minutes I got used to it and wasn’t really amazed with the 3D anymore, but other than that it was awesome seeing again in theathers.

hopefully it will come to germany… but i thought it was a real film/concert just like with the lord of the rings movies (which i saw with a live concert), meaning the complete film with real orchestra. anyway, looking forward to experience it some day.
