Hayden Panettiere Fears Stabbings

By Rodney - October 1, 2009 - 05:07 America/Montreal

Apparently Hayden Panettiere felt that Megan Fox was getting too much press so she decided to absurd herself as well, expressing fears that someone might confuse her with her TV personality.

And stab her.

Worst Previews shares:

“I’m just afraid somebody’s going to stab me one day and think that my power is real and they expect me to start healing,” she told Showbiz Spy. “I’ve been thinking about that since the first season.”

I just found her comment to be a little extreme. I am sure that actors deal with the worry that sooner or later someone is going to associate them with a character they play and make assumptions about them.

Perhaps Zack Braff is confused with a doctor for playing one on TV, or someone assumes Jack McBrayer is a gullable hick for his role on 30 Rock.

But in those situations a simple “No, I am not a doctor/pilot/slut/lawyer” comment would suffice.

But are there people really that crazy that they would walk up to a stranger and stab them just to seems a little extreme.

I might be remembering it wrong… but, didn’t something like that happen to George Reeves (Superman)back in the day?

I vaguely recall something about someone pulling a gun on him, wanting to see if the bullet would “bounce off”.

Or, maybe it’s just bogus Hollywood legend.

However, no one can convince me that Christian Bale isn’t really Batman.

  2. SlashBeast says:

Doesn’t she know she can regenerate?

  3. riggs says:

yes it happens, people become to obsessed with a tv character and take it out on the actor/actress.

  4. JeffGrey says:

Could that have been a little levity? I think she was probably making a little joke, guys.

  5. AARON says:

Gee Hayden, what a smart idea.

  6. Darren J Seeley says:

I don’t think what she said is entirely dumb; there are some people who watch soap operas, see a character’s villainy and take it out on the actor who plays that role. Panettiere, before landing a part on Heroes, did act in soaps.

And even if what she said might be seen as nutty, just remember folks, there are other nutty people out there. In any case, I think Panettiere has more danger getting smacked by a Japanese fisherman than getting stabbed by a goof who thinks she can regenerate.

  7. MandarinOrange says:

I am so glad she mentioned that I was planning on stabbing her to watch her regenerate on my double date with her and Megan Fox tomorrow.

  8. kiddo says:

Well Hayden that would happen if people were actually obsessed and watching your show. But since Heroes is getting less than 6 million viewers a week now.. I’d say you’re pretty safe

  9. Cinema Phreak says:

Ummmmm… Yes it does happen, what about the guy who shot president Reagan because he said Jodi foster told him to in one of her movies. And it’s not exactly the same as thinking someone’s powers are real from a TV show but what about mark David Chapman who shot John lennon because he felt like the Catcher in the rye told him to. So yes it does happen but in my opinion can’t anybody in hollywood be a smart-ass any more, everybody takes them so literally, she was probably being a smart ass and everyone got themselves in an uproar…Whatever though I could see some super obsessed fan stabbing her.

  10. James (hazmat) says:

I agree with her statement 100%

  11. Jeremy K. says:

Personally, and I know it probably makes me a bad person, but I’d lover for her to get stabbed and prove to the world that it will not be saved by saving the cheerleader!

  12. Shane Razey says:

Just ask Pam Dawber how much of joke this is.
When she was on “My sister Sam” her co-star,
Rebecca Schaeffer was stabbed to death in front
    of her own apartment.

Did David Letterman like having a crazy lady
break into his house all the time?

It is common sense to play it smart with fans.
Why do you guys think there is security and
fencing at every awards show? To keep wild deer
    from roaming for food?

It can, and does happen, that stars can get hurt.

  13. Dragonslayer says:

Wow. And people call Megan Fox stupid…

  14. Monty says:

Kinda reminds me of Curly Howard from the Three Stooges, he was constantly punched and hit in the head by people on the street who confused him with his on screen persona.

  15. BLAKE says:

Anyone else see the chances of her being stabbed increasing directly because of this statement? It just seems like now is when that one crazed guy decides to put 2 and 2 together and goes for it. And then after the fact he can say that she gave him the idea.

  16. JeffGrey says:

Anyone who thinks that - realistically - stars are in any more danger than anyone else clearly hasn’t thought about the numbers very hard. The number of deaths and killings in fictional media translating into real life attacks on actors is not a very high one to say the least.

  17. Charles says:

somebody stab her already so they can end the show already! It’s riciculous that this show is still on the air….
