Unused Inglorious Basterds Poster Online

By Rodney - August 26, 2009 - 07:17 America/Montreal

Inglorious Basterds had some really great posters out during its publicity run, however today we trip over a poster they chose NOT to use.

I really like this painted style, and it reminds me of old Indiana Jones posters or Star Wars. Maybe a little Big Trouble Little China.

However as much as I like the poster, I am glad they didn’t use it. I think the existing posters fit the look and feel of the trailers much better.

  1. JAMES (hazmat) says:

    It would have looked amazing

But only if Indiana Jones never existed

And some actors appear twice or thrice on the poster…

Obviously this was like the FIRST of hundreds of drafts

    • JAMES (hazmat) says:

      LMAO

And even though some actors appear multiple times on the poster…they failed to show Hitler ONCE.

      Ha!

    • Brian D says:

It also bothers me that actors are duplicated. It’d make a cool inside panel to a gatefold lp or cd. But too busy for a poster.

  2. Beck says:

Rodney, did you like this incredible movie more than John did?

  3. sdn says:

cool - i miss posters like these

  4. Kid In The Front Row says:

Eek, I don’t really like this. Good call on ‘Indiana Jones’ though.

  5. AndyS says:

GRRRRRRRRREAT Movie, going for a 3rd time tomorrow night.

    Poster is meh.

  6. thematticus says:

That poster rocks! I wish they would bring back more of this style.

  7. Darek-T says:

I have a feeling that this was painted by Drew Struzan. Who is the same guy that painted the posters for Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

  8. Darek-T says:

I do like this poster though but I think it would be a bit of a spoiler because it shows them blowing up the theater which is never a confirmed fact until the very end.
It’d be cool if they did release this poster, I’d buy it.

  9. Darek-T says:

Even though I didn’t like this movie as much as most people seem to. I’d watch it on DVD but probably fast foward through alot of it.

  10. Kraus says:

No… it is paying homage to good old Spaghetti-Western movies, the same way the whole movie does.

  11. Herby says:

Not to crazy about the poster, but I did love this movie. Plan on seeing it again this weekend

  12. AARON says:

I like it, but it reminds of KOTCS

But the movie ruled. And I like the poster they used.

  13. Gunther says:

The poster looks great but I can understand why they didn’t go for this one.

  14. Kbowers says:

I love the poster n I would truly like them to use this as the cover for the blu Ray edition of the movie
