Jack Sparrow Hunting The Fountain Of Youth In Pirates 4

This will come as a surprise to absolutely no one… but it appears what we’ve all suspected (that the next Pirates of the Caribbean film will focus on a hunt and race for the mythical Fountain of Youth) may indeed be “fact”.

Jeff Wells over at Hollywood Elsewhere is reporting that an inside source of his has confirmed this to him.

The project is supposed to start shooting next year with a 2012 release date.

I HATED Pirates 3. Total absolute trash that continued the franchises downward spiral since the brilliance of the first film. I really do hope they can get this franchise back on track. Perhaps with the removal of Knighly and Bloom the film can focus more on the stronger characters of Sparoow and Barbosa. That alone should make the film 3x better.

Awesome, but I knew it was coming. I loved all the pirates, I’m sure this one will be great.

  2. AARON says:

I really have no interest in another one, but personally I think that’s a good plot. It fits IMO

  3. Dragonslayer says:

I loved all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and I’m looking forward to seeing this one. I’m not surprised the plot is the way it is.

  4. Jeremy K. says:

Great news. This series reminds me a lot of the old Sinbad movies, especially the second two. I personally loved the direction the series went, but as I’ve said before I am a glutton for punishment. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

    yesss!!!!
im always up for more capt jack.
capt jack vs barbossa for the fountain of youth ftw!

  6. 3R!C says:

Badass! Jack and Barbossa along with the rest of the crew of the Black Pearl were what made me see the sequels.

  7. James says:

It’s not coming out in 2012 if it’s filming next year.

  8. Mladen says:

I wish they’d do these films like James Bond sequels. Un-related plots with repeating characters (and the occasional repeating villain). This ‘trilogy’ garbage doesn’t work for me.

    • Kaneda979 says:

      I totally agree.

    • Jake says:

Right, because who needs a good, epic storyline like Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings? Gimme a break. Trilogies are a classic example of a three-act film epic, and if done right they rock. They could potentially make a new trilogy that rocks.

    • Mladen says:

So we’re going to pretend that the Pirates trilogy is on par with Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Or that the first movie showed any suggestion that the writers had ANY IDEA what the second and third movies would be about (its clear that they didn’t)?

      Lets not kid ourselves.

But anyway, lets name some great movies that have an episodic sequel format (the only thing that develops is maybe a core relationship):
Burton’s Batman movies (and the Schumacher sequels)
      Indiana Jones
      Alien/Aliens
      Predator
      X-men
      Nolan’s Batman
      Toy Story
      Spiderman
      James Bond
      Star Trek
      Lethal Weapon
      Die Hard
      Godzilla
      Any Horror movie series.

After the # 3 Horribleness, I really have no desire to watch another one. The First movie was the best, it had Comedy, action and a sense of purpose. Now it’s just pushing Johnny to new depths of money whoring.

    • Mladen says:

I loved the first movie for what it was.

I came into the theatre with an actual checklist of pirate cliches (eg: pirate removes eye patch to reveal maggots inside; bar fights; drunken wenches; a mischievous monkey; fat pirate and skinny pirate comic relief), and the film met (nearly) every item on the list.

      I was SO satisfied.

  10. bjon86 says:

uuuh I liked ALL the Pirates movies. They were all really fun. I was surprised to come on here and see so much Pirates bashing but hey…whatev right. I liked all of them but, honestly, I could care less if they came out with another one or not. I’m good…I’m good.

    • Jake says:

We’re not bashing Pirates…just the third film. The writing and direction was just so lacking. The plot wasn’t half as solid as that of the first film, which remains my personal favorite for many reasons.

  11. Kaneda979 says:

Hmm, the hunt for the Fountain of Youth, not very original if you ask me. But then again, it does fit with the series and it’s characters, so I guess it’s not all bad.

I liked the first 2 movies allot, first one most of all. But I felt the 3rd one was just a huge, long, and pointless mess. I did love the part where Jack is trapped in the other plain of reality, that shit was just funny and crazy as hell. My girl friend bought it, just so we can have the whole series, I pop it in now and then just to watch that one part.

I can stand to see another one, but only if it does just focus on Jack, or Jack and Barbosa, if the guy who played him does come back for another. And if the plot actually has purpose of story, unlike part 3.

  12. Stephen says:

I loved the first movie. I dont recall much of the second, but the third pissed me off when they used Captn sparrow as a gag character. friggin idiots.

  13. Andy D says:

If the rumours of Russell Brand playing Jack Sparrows brother turn out to be true, I’ll be first in line to see this.

T’would be a spot of brilliance in the casting department.

  14. Tiglet says:

You’re being a bit to harsh on the movie

  15. riggs says:

as long as they keep away from captain jack tripping off of fucking stone crabs then ill go see it.

  16. Kristina says:

    No more.

I love Johnny, but enough is enough. This franchise ran (or sailed) itself into the ground. I’m done.
