Michael Sheen joins Tron Legacy

By Rodney - July 29, 2009 - 21:01 America/Montreal

For the next couple posts might make it sound like there is no other news online but Tron Legacy, but I just happened to trip on two tidbits I just had to share. The first of which is Frost/Nixon star Michael Sheen will be joining the cast of Tron Legacy.

Fused Film shares:

Apparently there has been a rumor floating around that Michael Sheen had role in the sequel, Tron:Legacy. Our British site partner, FilmShaft got a heads up on it from the Tron UK PR department. When he got a cast list from them and he saw Sheen’s name on it. Now it seems that Disney has confirmed the role via their Twitter feed. Way to go Craig on the scoop! Too bad most people will get the story via Twitter and never know our British brother’s journalistic integrity and investigative grit.

It wasn’t particularly clear as to which role he would have but it was rumored that Sheen was to play a villain that may or may not be human.

Michael Sheen has been scooping up some sweet parts lately with the voice of the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, Aro in Twilight’s New Moon. And now a possible villain in Tron Legacy.

I have always liked his presence and he has the ability to play a variety of convincing roles. I look forward to seeing what comes of this casting.

    YES!

What role could Sheen could play that is “a villain that may or may not be human”? My first thought was that he is the updated voice and/or “face” of a rebooted MCP.

By the way, I noticed in a cast list that John Hurt is also in the film, as is original cast member Bruce Boxleitner (which sort of makes sense-he, after all, played ‘Tron’)

I’m *really* looking forward to this in 2011. Two years away- goodness!

Michael Sheen is a good actor. I really liked his acting in the ‘Underworld’ Franchise.

I don’t know about you but from the teaser it sure did look like Flynn was going to be the villain. You know power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutly type of thing.

But who will play our hero Tron? It surly wouldn’t be Bruce Boxleitner, he maybe a bit on the old side, but Sheen could fill those shoes maybe.

Awesome news! Michael Sheen is an excellent actor. He’s also doing the White Rabbit’s voice in the new Alice in Wonderland movie.

I can see him playing a great villain. He did very well as Lucian in the Underworld series. Infact he was one of the best things about Underworld, even though there wasn’t much to begin with. ;p

But whatever part he plays, I’m glad he’s on board.

Every new piece of information I learn about this film just seems to make it even more awesome, Michael Sheen is a fantastic actor.

Brad, they could just use CGI for Tron and have Boxleitner do the voice… as with the young Flynn in the teaser.
