Daybreakers Poster

Daybreakers is a film that I’m very excited to see… but at the same time sounds an awful lot like I Am Legend, with the big exception being the cast of Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Isabel Lucas (the new little hottie from Transformers 2). Listen to how the film is described and tell me if it’s not very familiar:

In the year 2019, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works
with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.

Now granted, what makes this kinda cool to me is that it seems to be taking on the “already done” story and telling it from the perspective of the vampires. I like that a lot and has some potential. Anyway, a new Daybreakers teaser poster has hit the web and I though I’d share it with you:

  1. Dragonslayer says:

Yeah, you’re right. Just like I am Legend.

  2. Ryan says:

    Very Andy Warhol.

  3. Tarmac says:

Maybe more like the book version of I Am Legend. The latest film didn’t so much have them as ‘vampires’, more like athletic zombies.

  4. AARON says:

That poster REALLY reminds me of 28 Days Later

  5. G-Money says:

yea. i thought 28 days later first, actually more so than i am legend. im going to see it either way you look at it

  6. Ryan W. says:

Cool premise. Hopefully this film turns out great, vampire movies (for the most time) always seems to be very thrilling.

  7. Angie says:

Anyone read the comic Last Blood, same exact premise.. except the vampires are trying to save the humans from the zombies so that they have a food source…

    • Johnson says:

I’ve read Last Blood and this does sound pretty similar, isn’t Last Blood being made into a film anyway?

      • Jay says:

I’ve read the comic for a while now. I heard it was being made into a movie. When I saw the trailer for Daybreakers, I thought they changed the title and used hordes of vampires instead of zombies. I wonder if the creator of the comic can sue for copyrights? lol.

  8. DirkAnger23 says:

That poster looks like a combination of the original Fright Night + 28 Days Later. Not bad.

  9. Darren J Seeley says:

I was thinking 30 Days Of Night promo for the poster; but that’s possibly what they are going for.

As for the premise itself, it does sound closer to the Matheson source material than the recent film version of I Am Legend, and while there may be a tip of the hat to Matheson, I don’t think it’s a copycat by any means.

  10. JohnZDelorean says:

This must be going straight to DVD. Rips off 28 days later poster and I Am Legend story.

  11. Daryl says:

While I did think 28 Days Later. Seems more like someone is trying to cash in on the recent infatuation with vampires, ala, Twilight. Come on where is the creativity in Hollywood?

  12. Crackle says:

Looks like my cup of tea. Will definitely be looking out for it.

  13. Dragonslayer says:

Now it reminds me of 30 Days of Night (which I loved more than others did)

  14. John Preston says:

according to the trailer there is more than one person in this movie, so it is nothing like I am Legend. yes there is the cure thing, but at least there is interactions between characters, and not just will smith talking to a “fred”.

  15. Revok says:

The poster design is a complete rip-off of the book “If You Don’t Sleep, you Don’t Dream” by William Pauley III. Here is the link to the book’s artwork: http://www.webook.com/project/If-You-Dont-Sleep-You-Dont-Dream
