New Bob And Doug McKenzie TV Show

By John - April 21, 2009 - 10:07 America/Montreal

Good day eh. There are often discussions around the movie blogsphere about what the greatest drug or pot movies are. There are some good ones and which one is “the best” is certainly up for discussion and debate. However, when it comes to BEER movies, there is no discussion and no debate. Strange Brew is the greatest beer movie of all time (a bunch of it was shot in my town of Hamilton Ontario) and featured two of the most beloved Canadian characters of all time… Bob and Doug McKenzie.

Now, much in the vein of Jay and Silent Bob, the classic characters are brought to life in their own animated series. The great news is that Dave Thomas is back doing the voice of Doug. The sad news is that Rick Moranis is not returning to do the voice of Bob. Still… they got Dave Coulier to replace him and I’ve got to admit that he does a pretty solid job of imitating the character.

Check out the trailer for the new show:

Ohhh I loved Strange Brew! This looks like a much better animated show then Sit Down and Shut up. Jokers are funnier and its all about Canada, oh and Beer. Looking forward to seeing the show. That reminds me? When is there gonna be some new UNCUT PODCASTS?

While I miss Moranis (the other guy does a good job, he just sort of lacks the innocence of Moranis). ANYWAY …

At first I wasn’t gonna watch it, then, what the hell, away I went. UGH! The damn Christmas song AGAIN! So while I wanted some new material, I got the familiar…

BUT, the animation puts them as rapscallion 20-somethings and not two fat dudes in their mid 50’s and THAT was what sold me on it so I kept watching. And man, that stuff AFTER the Christmas song was gold.

“Com vit me if you vant to live… but first I must clean up some of dis dust”

I am pretty sure this christmas clip actually has Moranis in it. Either that or they re-recorded his every word with the exact same pronunciation.

However the website has the first episode up, and it sounds pretty good.

Interestingly enough Dave Coulier became famous for his role on Full House, and his character’s job on that show was a voice actor (and puppeteer)

I found this mouse in my beer bottle, eh?

That goal doesn’t count, eh. You were in the crease!

This is an actual track from their first album. So it is in fact Rick Moranis.
