10 Chick Flick Cliches NOT in He’s Just Not That Into You

The guys behind He’s Just Not That Into You promise us a romantic comedy chick flick that is different from all the rest. But honestly, don’t you think they all say something like that? But now we get wind of this little clip that illustrates exactly what they mean. They have 10 Chick Flick Cliches that are NOT in their film.

I was waiting to see if they would hit up the “Guy loves Girl but she is already dating a Jerk” thing. Why do they always have to be a jerk? Wouldn’t it be a grander conflict if the guy was in love with a girl but her boyfriend was a great guy too? Do you break them up and be selfish, or are you just happy that she’s happy?

But at least we now know that these guys considered the cliche’s before diving into a romantic comedy chick flick - and they told us so in a funny manner!

I have to give them props for that.

    Haha, that was pretty funny.

  2. Schulzy says:

    Indeed, I laughed.

  3. Mr. Chris says:

They’ve convinced me to see it.

I’ve actually always said there need to be more movies where the boyfriend isn’t a bad guy. Which is one of the reasons I forgive Sweet Home Alabama for a lot of what annoyed me about it. At least the love triangle wasn’t one where you can’t sympathize with the girl because she’s the idiot dating a jerk. And if you can’t sympathize with the girl then you can’t understand why you want the guy to end up with her.

But then I have the ultimate problem that I don’t actually like stories where a perfectly good guy gets dumped just because we’re supposed to want the girl with the hero instead. I’d much rather watch a movie about a girl and a guy who aren’t previously attached and don’t have other people vying for their attention but still have to go through the trials and troubles of life to get together and stay together. Because I find that a LOT more compelling.

…you consider yourself a veteran because you were in the boy scouts.

    Gold

  6. pigeonfeet says:

    the #1 cliche…Hugh Grant’s not in it.

  7. jolietjakemcfly says:

I find it really funny that Justin Long is mockingly playing the “quirky” best friend, and in The Break-Up he was exactly that character

  8. Geno says:

Wow, those guys are uh….really something. Holding hands and giving love monlouges. Yeah, ……it was funny! There is also that cliche where the guy and the girl hate each other at first but then throughout the movie they get to know each other better and find thier softer sides in them and fall in love. Blah, but hey if what these guys say is true this might be a funny movie.

  9. Justin says:

Funny stuff but I’m still not seeing it.

  10. Kristina says:

    The commercials are revolting.

“If you’re not gonna marry me then don’t be nice to me!”

    WHAT?!

  11. Mitch says:

Very funny but I agree with Justin I too shall not watch a movie that could be setting us up with a trap trailer. I’m just lovable like that
