I was really disappointed when I learned this movie was going to be cut in half. Guess you can’t hold someone’s attention for four hours anymore.

  3. Antonio

I wonder if they’ll show the scene where this bastard had my father’s uncle killed.

This movie looks so far like it’s glorifying him….i’m interested in seeing it but this man is no hero by any means. I hope soderbergh did this film with care and respect.

The tag line for this movie should be “The guy from the t-shirts.”

    David Lopan, please explain yourself…

I’m cuban Jon…Che and Fidel Castro are a huge reason why my entire family came to the states. I have a few family members that were hoping to see Cuba once more before they passed away and they didn’t get that wish. I especially hate the fact that a man that was fighting for communism and socialist causes is considered a merchandise gold mine thanks to Rage Against The Machine and thousands upon thousands of kids wear his t shirts without knowing the things he’s done. Speak to any Cuban about Che Guevara and you’ll get the same response from me. I’m sorry to other people who consider him a hero, I’ve said my peace. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I don’t think he’s the great man certain people think he is.

I for one don’t plan to see this movie if it Glorifies Che.
Che was a brutal murderer who executed hundreds of people without any sort of trial, and when there was a trial Che himself served as prosacuter, judge, and executioner. Aside from the hundreds he murdered, there are thousands others who were thrown into prison, concentration camps, and mental hospitals for opposing Castro. Also, there are a lot of people who crossed Che when he was running his little part of Cuba that simply disappeared. To this day, nobody knows what happened to them, only that they ended up on the wrong side of Che.

Che apologists claim that he the people he killed were all Batista thugs. This is not true either. There were many groups that opposed Batista, not just Castro’s. When Fidel came to power, it was Che who tracked these freedom fighters down and oversaw their assassination and torture. Che was not so much a rebel as a murderer of rebels.

I assume that this movie will portray Che as some kind of great military leader, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Che was grossly incompetent in military matters. During the Bay of Pigs incursion, Che and his men were in a completely different part of the island from where the action was. But Cuban exiles did send a small boat loaded with fireworks onto the beach in Che’s area as a distraction. While Che was leading his men against the unmanned boat he mishandled his pistol and shot himself in the Jaw. In Africa, his arrogant attitude towards blacks alienated the men he was supposed to lead.

In Bolivia, he took time away from his guerilla war to rendezvous with his mistress. Unfortunately for him, she had illegally parked her car with all kinds of documents inside. When the police found the car, they were able to learn almost everything about Che’s supposed army. His next big mistake was to divide his “army” into two groups without communication equipment. The two units wandered aimlessly in the jungle for months, unable to make contact with each other. Several times the units were so close to each other they one or the other was mistaken for government soldiers and shots were fired. Che was so miserable as a commander that the two units under his “command” were actually shooting at each other.

Che was an incompetent military leader. His only value to fidel was his sociopathic willingness to kill any person for any reason. If someone wanted to leave Fidel’s rebel band, it was Che who killed them. If Fidel needed journalists silenced, it was Che who did it. If Fidel wanted other anti-Batista rebels eliminated, it was Che who did the eliminating.

Unless this movie depicts Che as a blundering fool in military matters, it is a lie. Unless this movie depicts how Che loved to torture, humiliate, and kills, it is a lie.

Once again we see the hollywood message, “War is not the answer…unless you’re a socialist thug.”

I can’t wait to see all 4 hours of this movie when it comes to DVD.

  14. darkbhudda

“Love of humanity”. Puke. Love of humanity as a group doesn’t involve slaughtering individuals.

Wow! I’m so glad to finally see a movie about a great revolutionary. Its a bit confusing to have two versions of the film though.

I Hyped Che on Everhype and gave it 94% which I think is fairly accurate.

    Wow!…amazing.
How much more evil is Hollywood going to glorify?
Passing off, a revolutionary socialist, who killed in cold blood into a hero…
    Unfreakin’ believable!!!
