Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay DVD Release - Change the Movie

With the release of Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantamamo Bay slated for July 29th, the dvd has something to offer that to my knowlege, no other dvd has offered before.

choose your own adventure.

/Film offers:

The DVD release of Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay will allow viewers to choose their own adventure. Not much has been revealed yet, but the official press materials lists a special feature called “Dude, Change the Movie!” which will allow “you to select from new and alternate scenes to change the course of the film.”

Waaaaay back there was a movie based on the board game of clue that had three different endings changing the film entirely, and the DVD release of course has all three endings in it. But this is something else.

Imagine just how much extra footage would have had to be filmed just to accomodate this. Well apparently it comes down to 27 extra scenes that were shot. You will be able to interup the movie and choose exactly how you wanted it played out, more than once! Its not like you get to say “he gets the girl” at the end. This is going to have pivital moments mapped out for you to choose.

This is innovative, and though I wasn’t lured to see this in theaters, it looks like a worthy purchase on DVD just to see if I can find added entertainment value.

I actually have Clue on DVD. What a shitty movie that was. The alternative endings were kinda cute though.

The Final Destination 3 DVD had a similar feature, you could choose who lived and died. It usually cheated though and skipped to the end and described what happened in text form.

Return to House on Haunted Hill did the EXACT same thing that it sounds like these people are going to do, except that was an HD-DVD exclusive. on DVD you only got the normal version. It was an awesome feature though, and I can’t wait to see this movie with it too.

I remember seeing Clue in the theaters Jon H…. Haha

Yeah I also saw Harold & Kumar, Escape from Abu Gray in the theaters and I’m good.

    Seen enough.

Did we see the same DVD MrFuriousGoose?

The only real text on it was from NOT getting on the roller coaster, what happened to the characters. They lived.

And an option to read a newspaper on the floor near the end, how the characters from II got killed. Death came back for them.

This sounds like a really cool feature! I’ve often wished for a sort of interactive choose-your-own-adventure DVD setup, and if this is done right, it should be a lot of fun!

I seem to recall the first H&K DVD being pretty chock full of goodies.

See, now, if only other movies took the time to add quality content to their DVDs, people would be more easily persuaded to pick up and actual DVD rather than some terrible pirated copy.

Simply that pirated versions are terrible quality (even these touted DvDRips are not 100%) that I make sure I have a retail one.
