Toni Collette Joins Unnamed Sam Mendes Comedy
Toni Collette has signed on in an upcoming relationship comedy with John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph. I like hearing that Toni is still doing work as I do like her, and the role she is playing sounds like a good fit.
Yahoo News says:
Krasinski (”Leatherheads”) and Rudolph (”Saturday Night Live”) star as a couple who canvas the country to find the best place to raise their unborn child.Collette (”Little Miss Sunshine”) will play a college professor and close family friend convinced that the kid will end up dysfunctional no matter where it’s raised. Cheryl Hines (”Curb Your Enthusiasm”) also will appear.
This ensemble cast seems to be something of a charming pile. Each of these actors have a certain something that keeps them on the radar. Each of them does a great job of playing off other actors they are with and I look forward to seeing them together.
Back when my wife insisted I watch Muriel’s Wedding (I still didn’t see the big deal) I was introduced to this unique actress. Then it seemed like every third movie we picked up from the video store or caught on tv had her in it. “Hey its that girl” But she did have a certain something I can’t put my finger on.

That certain something… Enormous talent. I know it’s hard for people because she’s not a size zero bimbot like Jessica Alba, instead she’s an actress of enormous range who utterly and convincingly inhabits every role she plays. You have to like her because she can act, not because you want to rub one out thinking about her. She’s proven she can lead a film, be a brilliant supporting player or a stand out member in ensembles.
Your comment “I like hearing that Toni is still doing work ” is so weird since she’s not been missing from the screen any longer than most actors. She’s been working in her native Australia (as she has done constantly throughout her career) and is also working on television projects with Steven Speilberg. She’s a great, and greatly underrated actress.
