Mission Impossible 4?

By Rodney - April 30, 2008 - 07:23 America/Montreal

Well Crazy McCruise is returning to appear on Oprah, which he hasn’t been since his “jumping on the couch” assault inspired by his desire to explain how in love he was with Katie Homes. So maybe Tom Cruise is making an effort to restore his once strong reputation. So much media revolving around Cruise lately has been about his loony appearances and his failed Lions for Lambs and the unanticipated Valkyrie.

Tom needs a big hit. You know what that means. Yup, another Mission Impossible.

/Film says:

“Tom will make M:I 4 once Paramount greenlights the script. There will most definitely be another Mission: Impossible!”

When in the middle of a big career backlash, why choose edgy challenging (read: risky) films when you have a popular action franchise in your back pocket. Plus, foreign markets still love both Cruise and American action movies.

There is no denying that Cruise’s action flicks make money. Obviously the most financially successful of these have been the Mission Impossible films. So while he dabbles in his artsy “meaningful” films and strips another layer of respect off his public image, he might as well get one of these tentpoles lined up.

In the mean time, I hope that he tones it down and convinces everyone he isnt crazy. (Its ok if you are a nutjob Tom, we just don’t want to see it! We want to see the movies!)

I thought that Paramount booted Tom Cruise. Are they letting him get back into their movies? What’s going on? What do you think, Rodney?

  2. Rodney says:

Parmount discontinued their Production Deal with Cruise. He is still free to appear in their movies as a star. He just no longer has a contract to produce for Paramount.

Cruise in MI4 would purely be as its star.

  3. Darren J Seeley says:

If there *is* another MI, it will be without Tom Cruise- which actually would not be a bad idea. Also , are they suggesting there *is* already a script written and okay’d by Cruise?

I think this is a trick from the almighty Zenu.
Don’t put much stock into the rumor.

  4. Jay says:

I enjoyed the MI movies, and don’t mind another one.If he’s got no hand in producing, then better still, but it didn’t bother me on MI3 outcome.

Ummm…let’s see a plot idea for this? How about a mission to convert Tom’s movie fans to Scientologists believers.

    Now that’s Mission Impossile! :)

  5. Rodney says:

Darren, why do you assume they would make a Mission Impossible without Cruise? I haven’t heard anything that says they won’t do it with him.

A year and a half ago there was a rumour about Brad Pitt taking over and nothing came of it.

    Rod…

I’m not assuming anything. The ending of MI:III suggested that Ethan Hunt won’t be back, at least in a main part. Also, wasn’t MI:III part of the problem than was part of the rift between Cruise and Paramount?

In addition, Cruise is not just running a production company now. He’s still trying to start up UA. In all the jesting, I am rooting for Cruise.

  7. JAMIE says:

okay- did anyone see the end of MI:3???
    obviously therell be a 4th

    Darren J Seeley

okay yeah i see you agree ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
(i read your coment after i wrote mine)

  9. Haole says:

I don’t know… I only kind of enjoyed the second one and really disliked the third. Though Phillip Symor Hoffman was a great villain

  10. NM says:

Just seen MI:1 again and I have to say it is the best out of the bunch. In the last 2 you know the ‘villian’ early on in the film, and it makes it just another film about the ‘hero’ against the ‘villain’. Stick with a ‘who done it’ plot and keep it interesting.

  11. darcy says:

I liked all the MI movies. cruse was pretty good in all of them. and i do think that if he makes another one that it will be really good. think of how the movies are changing from where they once was. im sure it would be like in 2010 or after, so it will be a great film when it comes out.
