It Will Take A Million To Stop Boll
It appears that the much maligned, brass balls filmmaker Uwe Boll has responded to an online petition for him to stop making films by agreeing to quit if they can collect one million signatures! We get wind of this news thanks to a FEARnet interview via our friends at cinematical:
“FEARnet: Are you aware that there is a petition online, signed by 18,000 people, requesting that you stop making movies?
Boll: Yeah, I know that. 18,000 is not enough to convince me.
FN: How many would it take?
Boll: One million. Now we have a new goal.”
Uwe Boll has an outstanding sense of humor. So many in his shoes would be miserable, venom spitting bitches; either ignoring or shit talking the critics. Instead he challenges his foes to a boxing match, keeps his spirits high and remains a likable, cordial fellow. Campea met the man and said he was extremely friendly, and that seems to be the general consensus.
This man confronts his criticism, and calls it out. He stands tall and takes it. This man makes movies knowing full well that he has a legion of enemies. Does he have one million detractors? This is uncertain, but by challenging people to sign the petition - we will certainly see.
I for one will not be signing the petition. The world is a more interesting place with Uwe Boll making pictures and I think that even his most vicious critics will admit deep down, that they love to hate him.

I really don’t understand why all the fuss. If you don’t like his films, don’t watch them. It’s as simple as that. There are movies made all the time that suck ass, not just his. He has just as much of a right to make crap films as the next guy.

I really wanna know how he gets to keep making movies, because his shit really is just horrible.
I’m an aspiring filmmaker myself and I will take all the criticism you want if I could make as many movies as this guy has.
Is he funding them himself? lol
Thats nice and all that he knows how to take shit talk but really thats not gonna make his next movie better. Maybe he should be a comedian or somethin. Put him on a reality show.
Better yet, have him direct the next spoof movie, they cant be any worse.
I just hope that in a world, where someone like him can make that many movies, i can also eventually get my shot to tell an original story.
I won’t sign the petition because that wont make me any better but i will rant.

I’m sure many of the fans of the video games he has turned into movies would like it if he stop directing films. To be honest though he seems like a nice man, and I really don’t want him to stop making movies. He does appear as if he is improving at his craft believe it or not lol.

Amen Doug; the irony is that he is an example to a lot of much more talented directors on how to act like a decent human being and take criticism (Wolfgang Peterson, i’m looking at you).
If you don’t like Boll’s films, don’t watch them. They might even take the petition down once they’ve seen ‘Postal’.

I’m afraid I signed the petition 2 years ago. I thought the guy seemed very egotistic about his films. But as the months went by, I realized this is a fun guy who makes weird challenges, maintains a positive attitude, and continues to make films no matter what. And hey, if he wasn’t making shitty films, who would everyone complain about, George Lucas? This guy is almost a mondern-day Ed Wood (Sorry if I offended anyone with that statement, lol).
So, I don’t think a petition is necessary for Uwe. Now, for Justice League, maybe that would different…

He doesn’t care about the petition, he just threw a big number to show that it would take a lot of people to stop him. He has his own agenda. Also, you keep analysing him in American terms - he’s a street-smart guy from Europe who knows how to handle money and has less than 1 percent of creativity in him. I see guys like him all the time and asking them to create art is like asking your plumber to create a symphony. He probably sees most movies as brainless entertainment that anyone can make and he’s frustrated and doesn’t understand why his stuff isn’t as popular as the other stuff out there.

He’s good with money and quite clever in handling things and getting what he wants, but when it comes to art, human communication, expressing ideas, he’s almost retarded. His reactions are childish - he told a critic “you dont see courage because you are nothing. and no go to your mum and fuck her …” - and even his boxing stunt probably originated from him thinking “I wish I could beat these guys up” instead of sending an articulate response to critics.
