Strange Wilderness Trailer

There was a time that it looked like Steve Zahn was going to be the next big name in comedy films. His supporting role work is some of the best going, and when he got the lead role in “Saving Silverman” back in 2001 it seemed he was poised to make that bg jump from supporting character actor to full fledged comedy lead material. Sadly though Saving Silverman wasn’t very good, and we havent’t seen Zahn really take a comedy lead since.

Now we have a Strange Wilderness trailer. I’ve got to tell you, I’m not that impressed with the trailer… but I have some mild optimism for the movie anyway. There is a VERY solid comedic cast in there, and the premise could work. But yeah, the trailer alone isn’t doing much to sell me on it. Your thoughts?

This is the first time I’ve heard about this movie, but that trailer sure has got me intrigued. It’s funny (loved the bit with the shark at the very end), the premise is actually pretty original and potentially hilarious and Steve Zahn is always reliable, even when the movies he’s in are bad (SAHARA!). Also love the supporting cast (Horray for Jeff Garlin!).
I’ll keeo an eye in this one!

so you failed to mention his lead/support? er..
Half lead I guess in national security? That movie was pretty damn funny. you have to be in the mood for it, and you have to get passed some of Martin Lawrences crazy [annoying] antics and facial expressions that remind you not to discriminate, and that you too may have been constipated once or twice in your day, but never the less. Zahn did have a lead in that movie, and it was fairly enjoyable.

Steve Zahn did an amazing job on Werner Herzog’s Rescue Dawn as Christian Bale’s friend Duane. I’d even say that he stole that film from Bale and that’s a tough job to do with any actor. I wish he got a supporting actor nomination for that.

I hadn’t heard about this one but after seeing that trailer I have to admit I laughed out loud at the end part with the buck-toothed shark. I’ve liked Zahn in almost everything he’s been in. I think its the potential that he has on screen that keeps me entertained. He could be reading the phone book and then just go off into zany hilarity and that’s a good thing. The unexpected, always good.

The trailer was O.K. at best. I think this movie might be saved by Justin Long and Jonah Hill.

The shark part at the end was the best! Repetitive comedy rocks!!!
