Not just the best animated film of the year, Ratatouille is simply one of the very best films of 2007 thus far. A brilliant, touching, funny, sweet and poignant movie from the masters over at Pixar Studios who just continue to not only set the bar for animated films, but for great storytelling filmmaking in general.
Seems that the DVD release date for Ratatouille has been set for November 6th (marking calendar as we speak). Our friends over at MoviesOnline give us this run down of the stuff you can expect to see on the disc:
Delicious DVD Bonus Features Include:
* Deleted Scenes – With introductions by Ratatouille’s acclaimed screenwriter/director Brad Bird.
* “Your Friend the Rat” – Remy and Emile star in an all-new animated short film.
* Fine Food and Film: A Conversation with Brad Bird and Thomas Keller – Cuisine and cinema come together in this behind the scenes look at how master chef and restaurateur Thomas Keller brought his real life expertise to the table.
* Lifted – In Pixar’s latest short, Oscar® nominated for Best Animated Short Film, a teen alien learns that failure is an option.* More Surprises!
Honestly, I’m not really concerned with the bonus material on the disc… I just wanna see the movie again. In the weeks leading up the films release, there just wasn’t much buzz for the film, and even I, a die hard Pixar loyalist, expressed some reservations about the movie… I mean… it’s a rat in a kitchen. But man they made it work. I shall NEVER doubt Pixar again. All hail Wall-E.
Already pre-ordered. Haven’t seen the movie yet because Norway sucks, but Pixars and Brad Bird trackerrecord is so good that i trust that this is a great movie
I haven’t seen the movie. Nobody wants to go see a movie with a rat :’(
I’m stunned at how many of my friends with and without kids passed on this excellent because they didn’t think it sounded good (rat/kitchen). When asked, they tell me how muched they loved all the Pixar films. It suggests to me that people get burned so often by shit movies (particularly animated - Shrek 3!) that they are turned off and don’t care enough to hit the theaters.
Pixar only puts our GREAT films, period. Its mind blowing how people still dount them. WALL-E looks like it could be their best work yet as far as being a fantastic piece of art, that all age groups can really appreciate. This is just a taste but from everything I’ve read and heard, I feel confident saying it will be spectacular…
