Dane Cook To Star In Bachelor No. 2

We learn of a new comedy in the works about a professional date-tanker starring Dane Cook. We get the news from the caves of yahoo:

Stand-up comedian Dane Cook, in theaters last year with “Employee of the Month,” is in negotiations to star in “Bachelor No. 2,”

The Lionsgate project focuses on a man named Tank, known for being hired to take girls out on absolutely terrible dates so they will crawl back to the boyfriends they dumped. When his best friend needs his help with the girl who dumped him, Tank struggles with his raging libido and the meaning of friendship.

Howard Deutch (”The Whole Ten Yards”) will direct. An August shoot is being eyed.

Dane Cook seems to be a polarizing force. People either love or hate his comedy and usually have the same feelings for him as a person. Personally I am not into Cook’s comedy styling. That is taking nothing away from him, he is a talented performer but his style of comedy is not my particular cup of tea. I however have no problem with him as a person and am actually curious to see how he does as an actor.

I saw the film Employee Of The Month and thought it would be the worst shit ever. To my surprise both Cook and Jessica Simpson were fine in the film and had an endearing chemistry between the two of them. The movie was not something I would recommend per se, but it was an enjoyable enough romantic comedy with enough laughs to make it a worthwhile watch if you see it on the tube.

I think the idea for a film about a guy who wrecks dates on purpose is damn funny. Cook needs a breakout film, something that everyone will see so they can determine if they like him as an actor, and so he can show is if he has range. He is venturing into serious territory this weekend with Mr. Brooks, let us see what he can do. International friends what are your thoughts?

I’ve noticed most “stand-up” guys don’t like Dane Cook at all, because what he does isn’t technically stand-up, he just stands their and says things that are funny, but there is no technical form of comedy (i.e. punchlines)

I myself think he’s one of the funniest guys around, when his first comedy album came out I was passing it around like a sevre case of herpes. His first time hosting SNL was a blast, he seemed like he was part of the cast. If you havent seen it you should check out Tourgasm from HBO which shows you the behind the scenes of hitting the road doing stand up.

I’m really looking forward to what he can do with his movie career, his next flick is Mr. Brooks which happens to open tomorrow, but truth be told I ‘ll be checking it out more for Costner and Hurt, big fans of those chaps as well.

so funny story, i think this man is brilliant. he filmed a movie for disney i forget what its called, in my hometown of Newport, RI….my friend at the theater calls me and says “DUDE DANE COOK IS WATCHING DEJA VU RIGHT NOW!!!” so i went to the theater, and i freaked out and yelled “dane cook!!!” but my voice cracked and i kinda turned around for a second, and he just vanished into his hotel around the corner from the theater. it was cool though. oh ya and Mr. Brooks looks awesome.

I have never seen his stuff. I have only seen him in Employee Of The Month. And I didn’t think it was that bad. Just the big booby lady that was married to so boy band singer. She should go do something else. Like maybe go see if she is smarter than a chimp on roller skates.
