Meet The Parents 3

I just flat out loved the first “Meet The Parents” flick. The concept and the execution were almost flawless, and it was one of those rare comedies that made you laugh AND had a pretty decent little story to go along with it. I still try to watch it once or twice a year. But my love of the first film is almost equaled by my disappointment in the second one (Meet The Fockers). Don’t get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with the casting or the performances… but the film felt far more contrived, forced… and just plain old not nearly as funny. oh well… it was worth a shot.

But not it appears that they’re getting ready to go back to the well once again (which isn’t all that surprising since Fockers still made an ass load of cash). The good folks over at Yahoo News give us this:

Teri Polo is set to reprise her role as
Ben Stiller’s wife in “Meet the Little Focker,” the third installment of the movie franchise. “I think he cast me in the role because I play a great straight man,” she said. “Actually, I think I’m funnier off-camera.”

I don’t HATE this idea… but it does sort of make me scratch my head. The second film was understandable… but it didn’t work. It was done, you’ve told the story, and even took it a little further than you should have… so it’s time to let it go right?

I don’t know. I guess I can see some people being excited about this I suppose. I’m just not one of them. What do you think? Do you like the idea of another Meet the Parents movie? If so, why or why not?

the first film was the most frustrating thing to watch…so much so it made me hate it…the only reason I saw the second film was because I was on a bus trip and it was playing…I laughed once at the scene were he is drugged and passes out on the stage…unless I take another bus trip I won’t see this one…basically I hate these movies

the second film was a classic case of “totally unnecessary sequel syndrome.”

    a third one is a terrible idea….

I liked both movies because they are fun to watch, and rewatch. They aren’t cinematic achievements in any way, but I enjoy them whenever they are on. Like some other Ben Stiller movies, Dodgeball being one, it is what it is…fun.

I didn’t like the first one so I never saw the second. The film started out promising enough, but as it progressed, Stiller’s character went from being “wrong place at the wrong time” to “good intentioned schemer”. He gets the girl at the end in spite of his lies. Disappointing.

his cable character is good too…in fact cable guy is under rated in general - carreys best film by a mile…..

It had such a creepy tone…it reminded tone wise of an old belushi/ackroyd film called neighbors..

has anyone seen that one….neighbors??? great film. very weird…..

it is a true under rated gem…every one goes nuts over the blues brothers (which is a great film) but for me it’s neighbors…..

when he sees ackroyd making the pasta next door???!!?

just a creepy little black comedy…..

i also love the fact that belushi took the ackroyd role and ackroyd took the belushi role if you know what I mean

I am so glad to finally find someone else who loves it…..we are few and far between….i showed it to my friends one night and they made me take it off after half an hour….

    great film

is it just me of does anyone else find it a little odd that john tries to watch films “once or twice a year”

Can’t say I ever schedule films into my year planner that i’ve already seen unless I really fancy them, definitely not once or twice a year (more like once every couple of years on the spur of the moment)

i think meet the little focker is a great idea. I laughed my butt off in the first two. especially meet the fockers. I’ve been hoping they did another one. I think the actors/actresses are perfect for the movie and i think it will be interesting to see if “jack” will try to do the baby signing and stuff with the new baby. And how “greg” and “Pam” will bring it up. I think this movie is going to be extremely hilarious and interesting.

Maybe I have a weird sense of humor, but I thougt Meet The Fockers was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, with the most phenomonal cast! I laugh over and over - everytime I see it.

I can’t wait for Meet The Little Focker!!!

Meet the Parents and Meet the Folkers were rare in that they were good “fluff” comedies that applies to middle America. You don’t have two high grossing films and everyone hates them; you don’t even have a sequel in that case.

I thought the first two were as advertised, funny with Stiller’s crazy sense of humor. It may be hard to squeeze a third film out of the franchise, but I guess we will see if it works on not soon.
