The Return Gets Bumped To January

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s career and popularity will never be as big as it was back in her Buffy The Vampire Slayer days. The projects she’s appeared in so far have pretty much made me lose any faith in her acting ability or interest in her films in general.

So it really comes as no surprise to me at all that her new supernatural thriller movie “The Return” just got pushed back into the graveyard of movie release dates… January. The good folks over at JoBlo give us this:

(The Return) has been bumped back from its original November 10th release date. Instead, the film gets to open up the dreaded month of January of next year. January 19th, to be exact. As most film fanatics know, the early months of the year as usually reserved for studios dumping projects that they really don’t have much faith in

Gellar has 4 or 5 other projects in the works… but none of them really get my attention. I was quite curious to see how she would fair in her post-Buffy era… but I haven’t liked her at all since. Who knows… mabye “The Air I Breathe” will change my mind… but I doubt it.

Oh I don’t know, John. A pic of SMG on all fours can’t mean ALL bad things. :)

I am unable to refute that

Anytime an actor leaves a popular (if cultish) TV show to pursue a movie career, 99/100 that movie career will crash and burn. I could be watching more Buffy RIGHT NOT instead of The Grudge 20 or whatever other shite SMG is filming now,

With every movie that is a failure for her we get closer and closer to seeing Buffy return.

You’re right John however with a bit of luck she’ll find another TV show to sink her teeth into.

I agree but that’s such a waste of talent. She has such potential but the typcast she’s fallen into isn’t helping her career at all. She needs another “Cruel Intentions”.

Matt, maybe with every additional failure we get closer to seeing her in playboy. I’ve been rooting for Jennifer Love Hewitt’s career to bottom out for years now…oh wait I guess that already happened.

she needs to make a hot-erotic-movie with a hot-erotic-and-almost-porn-and-perfect-scene in which she appears nude… that day, all of her shit movies will be forgotten

… and she needs to change her agent

Okay granted I’ll be getting hate vibes from the Buffy crowd, but I think this is actually an assessment of the level of the Buffy series - did SMG really need to be an amazing actress to nail that part in that show? I liked the series, as a comedy, but the acting never compared with the great movies out there.
