I know that people get advanced copies of movie scripts, but this is the first time I’ve read a review on one (yes I am that new to this sort of thing). So imagine my joy when I saw that they had taken a look at the sequel to 28 Days Later, my favorite zombie movie of 2003. 28 Weeks Later will be coming out in May 2007. Here are a few things El Mayimbe of thelationoreview.com had to say:

“Entertaining, another group of people on the run from the sprinting zombie flick which we have seen a dozen times before with the infection delivery this time around being different than the first film. “, “A good enough quick read where it kept me interested up to the big reveal and then the irony that closes the film.” ,” I give it a B- .”

Here is the synopsis of 28 weeks later: Seven months after the rage virus has annihilated the British isles, the US army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin. In the first wave of returning refugees, a family is reunited-but one of them unwillingly carries a terrible secret. The virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more dangerous than ever.

As many of you are aware I am a big zombie movie fan as well as the star of the low budget zombie movie Awakening. Zombie flicks can be fantastic successful or total flops, the key is to always have some sort of twist, a lot of gore and gratuitous nudity.

Although at a first glance the reviewer seems to be just lukewarm on this flick when I actually read the whole review on the script I see that there is a good twist, gore and it’s fast paced at just 96 pages (no word on bare bodies).

Sadly it seems that zombie movies are on the decline. There have been a lot of them over the past few years and 28 Days Later was close to the beginning of this lovely, bloody, breast baring phase of cinema, I think it is fitting that 28 weeks later should be on the tail end of things.
