Tom Cruise Apologizes to Brooke Shields

It looks like the Tom Cruise camp is is full “damage control” mode right now. Not only are there whispers of him doing a comedy with Aptow (which would do wonders for his image in my opinion), but now there is word that he has personally apologized to Brooke Sheilds for his unprovoked attacks on her last year.

The folks at Yahoo give us this:

The 41-year-old actress says Cruise apologized in person Thursday. “He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology,” Shields said Friday during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” “And he apologized for bringing me into the whole thing and for everything that happened.

“And through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn’t feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it.”

Look, I will rip a guy when I think he’s acted like a jack ass (like Cruise frequently has over the last while), but I will also give credit where credit is due. This was a smart, and classy move on Cruise’s part. We can all debate what his motivations are for doing the right thing… but none of us can Judge that for certain, so I’ll just give the man credit for doing it.

Why do I get the feeling the guy has different handlers now?

If I were her, I wouldn’t have even let him in my damn house. He’s not sorry about what he said. He’s sorry that his Q score has plummeted. Fuck him right up his short queer ass.

I am one of the majority that thinks Cruise acted like a jackass this past year or so. BUT I do believe that he is really sorry for what he said to Brooke Shields and I don’t think this is a PR move.

Here’s why: He didn’t apologize in public. In fact, we didn’t know about Cruise saying sorry. Brooke Shields was the one who told Jay Leno about the whole apology thing. Her husband even cooked them some food. Okay, I do not know why I had to write the last sentence there but that’s what Brooke Shields said during her appearence on The Tonight Show

Tom Cruise has done some pretty lame things in the past year or so, but I don’t think he’s any different than the rest of Hollywood. He’s a fantastic actor and has made some great movies.

I hope his next movie is a comedy. I’d like to see him in another role like Jerry Maguire.

So, we are to believe that the timing of this is purely coincidental? Tom just decided this week, just after his parent company dumped his ass, after his public approval has been flushed down the drain, after everyone laughs at his stupid-ass behavior with Matt Lauer and Oprah….sure Tom, we believe your apology…we don’t at all think it’s a self-serving apology.

What a fake tom cruise is. I don’t buy his apology, it’s obviously a a ploy to improve his popularity. or lack of

We don’t know whether Tom Cruise apologized after the Paramount thing happened for sure.

Usually when it comes to late night talk shows, before the interview the interviewer (in this case Leno) asks his guests what interesting happened to them. And probably Brooke Shields told them about the ‘Cruise apologizing incident’. Us, viewers, don’t know whether Tom Cruise apologized two days before the interview, or even months.

But I have to say, if Tom Cruise did apologize because he knew that Brooke Shields will mention it somehow, then yeah, he’s a bastard fuckhead.

Everyone can read whatever they want into Tom’s actions, but I believe since we’re all human, we all make mistakes every now and again. I think Mr. Cruise’s actions over the last little while, came from someone that is now sorry for them, and whether or not we believe him, we’re not God to judge him. So, if he says he’s sorry to Brooke Shields, why shouldn’t we take him at his word, since she did? If you don’t like it, or think it’s genuine, then so be it. But you don’t have to be rude and make statements as bad as his (from the last year).

I would like to see him apologize to Trey Parker and Matt Stone next.

    Hey Nazz,
Of course he knew Shields would mention it. Just think, if he had said (to the media) that he had apologized before Shields had revealed it, that would suggest she hung him out to dry.

Allen’s statement is cliche, but it’s absolutely true. cruise spoke about his hokey religion (and against antidepressants) with such conviction until it hit him where it hurts the most….

Cruise is a joke! Of course he’s going to apologize and try to save face….he’s about as well liked as GWB. As far as doing a comedy, he’s still going to be a jackass regardless of what movie comes out and what fake apology he gives. It looks pretty pathetic that it took him this long to give her an apology.

I still like Tom after all the bad hype. I am glad to hear he apologized to Shields on a personal level. I hope he didn’t apologize for his beliefs though. I like people who stand by their convictions. I also agree with you John, that Tom needs a good comedy right now.

I understand that Tom’s camp is now denying the Oprah incident never happened. They’re insisting that it was all CGI, a media ploy on Oprah’s part.

I guess the rest of you people who talk negative about Mr. Cruise have never done anything wrong and stupid in their lives. He never killed any one, drove drunk or spoke badly about any racial issues. He told it how he believes it and that is more then the rest of you 2 faced people could say. But I guess the rest of you guys are all perfect. If any movie he makes again is good of course I will go.
