Some of you may remember that a few days ago I put up my predictions about how the weekend boxoffice would shake out.

” I’d rank Shally’s “Water” up to #3 behind Monster House.”

    Ha Ha Ha Ha

    So let’s see my tally:

    1) Pirates = 0 [in ther posts/comments I said this will go week 3 at #1]

    2) Monster House = 0

    3) Lady In The Water = 0

    4) Clerks 2 = 3

    5) Super X = 3

    6) Dupree= 2

    7 )Superman = 1

    8) Prada= 1

    9) Cars=1

    10) A Scanner Darkly = 1 {no.11}

[with the exception of #10, I agreed with you in order, only that the order would follow the first three; that Supey would be over Prada but I thought Little Man would go seriously down south more than you…]

So I’m 12, right? No, because Little Man I thought would go 11. So that means…WAAAAAAHHH 6! My results therefore are that I’m 18.

Now this week, Miami Vice opens, and I’ve clearly stated in the comments that it will top “Pirates”. So, will Pirates be #2? Well, what’s opening against Vice? Well, there’s Woody Allen’s ‘Scoop’, but that’s limited. We have…Ant Bully in one corner, and John Tucker Must Die in another.

    Hmmm…
Well, John should be thrilled. Little Man’s going down!
My standings when John posts his predictions for next weekend…

    Actually Darren,

Scaner Darkly came in at #13… so your score is actually 20.

    :)

WEll…Clerks 2 made its budget back already.

Seems like you did fine. It seems the box-office has slown down abit. I know 3 biggish movies opened, but the biggest opening 23 Million?

Maybe people are catching their breath after da vinci, x-men and Pirates had such great openings.

Yeah good for Clerks 2 making all of its money back already…..

This was a VERY surprising weekend with Littleman AND Dupree over hte other 2 ….just wow

I thought you predicted Sham-Hammer’s film to do worse than three and no better than five… :)

  • 7. John Campea replies at 23rd July 2006, 6:38 pm :

    Hey Jason,

If you go back and look at the original post from the other day, I Predicted Lady in the Water as coming in 5th. I was off by 2. Oh well.

Rub it in, John, rub it in.
What’s worse though is that I was right about “Water”. Not to worry; it’s going DOWN.

Now, here’s the thing: would it be a tougher call that “Monster House” is currently #2 and this next weekend is “Ant Bully”? I don’t think “Tucker” is going to open big. But you know something? I really haven’t heard a lot of “buzz” around ‘Ant Bully’. Is this a sequel to Antz?

Here’s my hopeful for next weekend:

    1) Miami Vice
    2) Monster House
    3) Ant Bully
    4) Pirates
    5) Clerks 2
    6) John Tucker Must Die
    7) Dupree
    8) Super X
    9) Lady In The Water
    10) Supey

Oh don’t get me wrong John, I too wished for a lower spot for the Lady in The Water… its those that DON’T listen to the Audio Edition that keep watching the flick… :)

    RISE CLERKS 2…RISE!!!
