Superhero Movie

WIth the huge $40+ million dollar opening weekend for Scary Movie 4, it comes as no surprise that the new spoof movie “Superhero Movie” is now being fast tracked to be in theaters within a year (They’re aiming for February 9th 2007).

The good folks over at Cinema Confidential give us this:

David Zucker, the director behind “Airplane!” the “Naked Gun” franchise, “Scary Movie 3,” and “Ruthless People” will re-team with Dimension Films to create the spoof on the latest trend of comic-book inspired films including “Spider-Man 3,” “Superman Returns,” “Batman Begins,” “Fantastic Four,” and “X-Men 3.”

Meh… I’m a sucker for the whole Superhero genre… so by default this project has my interest. I guess it was only a matter of time.

  1. hey guys which movie was it where the super heros are amatures and the black guy goes invincible infront of cameras and mirrors

  2. How about a feature length version of The Tick? That’s a superhero spoof. Bat-manuel is the funniest goddamn thing I’ve ever seen (even though he doesn’t do anything).

    I agree with the dude up there. Stick a laugh track on F4 and you got a spoof. Watch the Roger Corman version, it’s much better and a lot more fun in a cheap let’s-do-whatever-the-fuck-we-want-with-no-money kinda way.

  3. A matter of time?????
    A matter of time?????

    Strange how Hulk was spoofed in Scary 3;
    Strange how there have been other spoofs from Sky High to Mystery Men…

    No, it’s a little too late. Besides, then you get Fantastic Four…
    oh, that wasn’t a spoof? Oh well.

    Gimmie a new LA version of Howard The Duck or bring on The Greatest American Hero (hey, the latter was a TV show spoofing superheroes; that’s only a matter of time for H’wood)
