The Wachowski Brothers To Direct King Conan?

Well this could be interesting. Apparently Warner Brother is in hot pursuit of the Wachowski Brothers to direct the next installment of the Conan series “King Conan”. All with Arnold attached obviously.

The good folks over at Cinescape offer up this little tid bit:

Back in January 2004, IGN Film Force had reported their trusted sources told them “Larry and Andy Wachowski have ankled King Conan: Crown of Iron, the third movie featuring Robert E. Howard’s barbarian hero. The Wachowski brothers were to have produced King Conan with John Milius onboard to write and direct it… Sources advised IGN FilmForce that the Wachowskis - who had reportedly clashed with Milius over the tone and direction of the film - left King Conan of their own volition.”

Thus whether the brothers are back or not must remain in the unconfirmed rumor category at this time

I know this makes me an unpopular boy around here… but I still don’t buy the idea of Arnold coming back to be Conan again. He’s too old, too out of shape, and I’m sorry guys, but “Just getting back in the gym” at 60 years of age just won’t cut it. But hey, I’ve been wrong before. Maybe they’ll fuel him up on Cocain and Horse steroids.

Say what you want about Arnold, but he had dicipline.

In his autobiography, ‘Arnold: The Education of a Bodybuilder’, he boasts of how he once broke into the Athletic Union on a Sunday so he could train seven days a week. “If you told me that if I ate a kilo of shit I would put on muscles,” he says, fondly recalling his teenage years, “I would eat it.” On one occasion, Arnold announced to his startled gym buddies that he wasn’t going to bed until he weighed 255lbs. At the time he was a mere 252lbs and he duly stuffed himself with bratwurst and apple strudle until he’d achieved his goal.

He will never get back into the shape he was in twenty years ago, but I bet he would be good enough to play King Conan.

    Just my two cents

RE: “All with Arnold attached obviously.”

Wait a minute. Is it really that obvious? Why would Arnold appear in a movie when he’s the governor of California? You can’t just take time off from being governor.

It’s not “obvious” at all that he would be the star of a Conan movie. Why wouldn’t they just get somebody new? They could find some good-looking Eastern European body builder. I am sure thousands of them would line up for the chance to audition. It’s not like the role of Conan requires great acting skill (not that Arnold has it….but you know what I mean).

    Hey there Brunk

Oh I agree with you 100%… but the studios don’t agree with us. They are indeed moving forward assuming Arnold loses the next election (which he will if he runs again… his approval ratings are horrible right now) and that the big man will want to do it.

They are doing everything right now with Arnold in mind. And I think it’s a bad idea. Oh well… no one listens to me (which is probably a smart thing on their part)

I don’t agree. Arnold would be cast as a king. So why would he be to old for the part. If WB is smart, they know they don’t have a movie if they don’t have Arnold.

    Wachowski Brothers, sounds sweet.

It’s obvious because TheArnoldFans made it up to keep their hero in the news and a viable film commodity.

Otherwise, the chance that Arnold - and the Wack brothers - having anything to do with Conan is as thin as a Zamoran theif’s honor.

Yeah, Arnold was truly the embodiment of the perfect steroid induced body. And, I mean that in a good way. When George Bush signed the Bill to ban Prohormones that was a major loss toward reaching unknown potentials with designer nutrients. Now, the Pharmaceutical Industry is making Prohormones for perscription only, at close to 3 times the cost. That’s almost 200 dollars for 30 prohormone tablets on average. Bastards.

But more importantly I hope the Wachowski’s don’t do a Conan movie; what a waste of good talent. Let’s see another groundbreaking blockbuster that is totally different from anything ever created. The way “The Matrix” changed the Sci-fi Genre forever.

I’d rather see the Wachowski’s finish there project with Sxean Lee-David. The movie I think was called “DreamScapesAxis” or “The Axis” something like that.

Last I heard they were going to produce and direct that film then changed there minds at the last minute to do V for Vendetta, in lieu of the Bush Administration.

Well, that’s what I read from an official source on the Internet way back then. Just about as official as these rumours anyway.

Conan and the Wachowki’s,… Nah! That’d be a waste.

How could anyone ever imagine anyone replacing Arnold as Conan? He made a come back for t3 looking really good. Only working out for 5 weeks ,if he trys hard enough(which I know he will) he could pull it off. He,s the king anyways how young does a king have to be anyways?
If Arnold isn’t in the movie personally it just wouldn’t be the same. Conan the barbarian was one of the great movie ever …
